Eastlake Dresser with Mirror and matching Commode Eastlake Dresser with Mirror and matching Commode

Eastlake dresser with mirror has three large drawers. Matching commode (or side cabinet) has one long drawer, two smaller side drawers and the place where a chamber pot would have been kept. This has great spoon carvings and the pieces are made with solid wood, no partical board here, such is found in many pieces being sold in today's market. Why is this called eastlake furniture? Charles Eastlake was born in 1836. He was an English architect and writer. He left architecture in favor of art history and spent two years studying art and buildings in Europe. You can find interesting information about this style of furniture on the internet. These pieces have been in my home for over 25 years. I have downsized and am offering them for sale. They are currently in my booth at the Brass Armadillo in Des Moines, Iowa. Local pickup only. Delivery locally could be arranged, please ask about the cost as it depends on distance from the antique mall. Great bedroom furniture. Option of painting is available for an additional charge. Staff should contact dealer for details regarding painting. Your offer will be considered.

S639-Victorian Marble Top Bed Set Renaissance Rev. S639-Victorian Marble Top Bed Set Renaissance Rev.

This amazing 2-piece walnut and rosewood Victorian bedroom set consists of a queen bed and marble top dresser.  The bed measures 92.5" tall, 66" wide and 83" deep.  Queen size beds were not of standard size in that period.  A current queen mattress measures 60" wide and 80" long.  The inside dimensions for this bed is 60" wide by 76" long.  We can easily arrange for a cabinetmaker to professionally lengthen the rails or we can order a custom mattress to fit the space.  The arched shaped crest on the bed is dramatic and boldly carved.  The bed finials are large and imposing.  All the carvings are deep and highly dimensional.  There are two raised applied rosewood panels below the crest and a huge recessed panel further below.  The rosewood graining is impressive.  Notice the arched and curved footboard with carved leaves and pomegranates on the sides and the raised and recessed burled panels on the front.  Even the side rails are beautifully carved and dramatically shaped.  The dresser greatly compliments the bed, both in style, patina and color, but may not have originally started as a set.  The dresser measures 93" tall, 50" wide and 18.5" deep.  The boldly carved arched crest and the applied burled panels are repeated on the dresser.  There are lovely candle stands on either side of the beveled mirror.  The drop center dresser has 2 small hand-dovetailed drawers on each side with marble tops.  All the marble is in excellent condition.  All the drawers have applied burled walnut panels on there fronts.  The two bottom hand-dovetailed drawers retain their original working locks.  The bottom right pull, which is similar to the others, does not match exactly.  All the drawers open and close smoothly.  The finish on both pieces is in excellent condition, having a deep, rich color and patina.  Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1870's.

Walnut Victorian Bed Walnut Victorian Bed

G515.....Here is a wonderfully tall walnut Victorian bed.  The bed is under 8ft. tall and the headboard comes apart into many pieces, which makes it easy going up those narrow staircases.  The inside width and length will accommodate a standard double mattress and box springs.  This bed has the potential to be converted to a queen size.  The carvings are well executed and the condition is excellent.  91"h X 59"w X 80"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1870's.

Mahogany Poster Bed with Canopy or Tester Mahogany Poster Bed with Canopy or Tester

S566.....This lovely tall poster bed has its original canopy or tester.  The unusually designed headboard has an arched and scrolled top with 3 recessed panels of contrasting mahogany graining.  Check out the reeded and finely carved tall posts.  Carved acanthus leaves and swags with tassels are prominently displayed.  The side rails are attached by their iron bolts, which are covered by small carved wooden plaques, which are original to the bed.  The bed can be used with or without the canopy.  Most likely, the bed had finials to be used on top of the canopy.  The tip of the post can be seen when the canopy is in place.  We can arrange to remove that exposed 1" tip.  This would not affect the strength or integrity of the canopy.  Another option is that we can order appropriate wooden finials for an additional minor cost.  Of course, the 3rd option is to simply ignore it!  The bed retains its original finish, which is in excellent condition having a very deep, rich color and patina.  84"h X 55.5"w X 85"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1890-1910.
