The Self Portraits of Frida Kahlo - Antiques with Gary Stover

In this show we profile a heretofore unknown self portrait done by Frida Kahlo in 1946. It's an oil on canvas, and about 30" x 24" sight. It is signed & has a remarkable inscription on the back of the canvas. It was purchased by the current owner's grandfather from Frida at her studio, La Casa Azul, in Mexico City shortly after the painting was done. We try to put this painting in context with some of her other self portraits, and we hope to describe in some small way Frida's contribution to world culture. She was larger than life, and Fridamania is alive and well, and I think we're all the better for it!
