Appraisals at Hiwan Homestead

  • You may have seen our show a couple of months ago on the Hiwan Homestead Museum in Evergreen, CO. Well, we went back up the mountain from Denver this weekend to Hiwan Homestead to appraise antiques that local residents brought in at the annual Antique Grove Show. It was well worth the trip--we appraised some real treasures, and we filmed it to show 1 week from tonight on July 5, 2015. Among the highlights for me were: 2 fabulous KPM plaques with bronze frames (value $5-7,000 each), silkscreen by Awa Tsireh, a beautiful northern California landscape by a Utah artist that I appraised at $15,000-20,000, a collection of Civil War & early Colorado letters--you may remember that we saw a world-class collection of early Texas & Civil War letters at our last Appraisal Day at the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall in Denver. I really enjoy doing these appraisals, and if any of you are ever in the Denver area, and you have pieces that you'd like me to appraise, I'd be very happy to do that. It's a great way for me to learn, too. Hope you can tune in. Gary
